Years ago, when I realized I couldn't afford to live on Caribou every day and still support a family, I started getting MJB in the supermarket which is probably 1/3 the cost of the gourmet stuff. I usually get the "European Roast"...which I'm pretty sure is a 'French Roast'.
Maybe they're worried about the whole anti-French thing from a few years back. :)
Now...it's probably not technically a 'French Roast'...but the best coffee I ever had was a chicory coffee at "Cafe Du Monde" in the New Orleans French Quarter around '95.

What time is the coffee party at your house? :-)
I didn't get ANY coffee stuff this year. However, I also did not give any this year. Last year, I made a few gifts of Mystic Monk coffees. I would have done that again this year if I'd been fully employed all year. Next year!

I highly recommend Mystic Monk coffee made and sold by the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming. Great brew, supporting a great Catholic order, doesn't get much better than that!
