Time for FaceTime: Video chat done right?

Last week, while I was attending a convention out of town, I was able to ’stay connected’ with my wife and kids via Google Video Chat. It was a great way to see the family and for them to see me. Our youngest, Katherine, was showing off by bouncing on our bed saying ‘Hi Daddy!’.

Ever since I switched from PC to Mac a few months ago, I had been looking for a good blogging application. On a Windows PC, Windows Live Writer, is one of the best apps out there for blogging. However, I’d rather not use a Parallels Virtual Machine on my Mac just to kick out some posts. And while the WordPress dashboard and web interface are extremely slick, I enjoy the ability to work offline when necessary.

These were my choices… Ecto Blogo Macjournal MarsEdit – the eventual winner

It had come down to Blogo versus MarsEdit, but MarsEdit won me over with how easy it was to insert HTML markup.

While working on this blog post, I discovered it supports Tumblr as well . . . :-D

UPDATE 1/14/10:
On the last day of the evaluation version of MarsEdit, I came across something that was kind of a deal breaker for me, image editing. Since Blogo was my runner-up, they got my $25 and this post is being edited with it.
